College Graduation

Today is the day!
12-13-14 I graduated college with a double degree: B.S. In Accounting and Finance. After just 3.5 years from graduating high school, I got married, had my son, and now I have graduated college.
Annddd to add to my accomplishments, I have accepted a job from a CPA firm! I will not be another jobless graduate! And there is no shame in that. The oldest generation is working longer so there are less jobs for us graduates!

I feel the need to post several statuses on my facebook of all the accomplishments I've made - not to be bragging or to feel high and mighty- but to prove to the doubters that I MADE IT!

I was one of the "most likely to succeed" people in high school. I had a plan. I went to college and joined a fabulous sorority. I had a social life! And then in November of my freshmen year of high school, I got pregnant. I refused to be one of those moms who take time off from school because they had a child. That pushed me harder. I never wanted to be another bad statistic. After marrying and having my son (it's been 2.5 years), I still feel so guilty. And with that guilt comes the need to prove to everyone that I am not a bad statistic. I have accomplished more since high school than ANY of my classmates. I am a mom, wife, college graduate with 2 degrees, and soon to be CPA (if I pass)! Yet I still want to shout it to the world that I made something of myself!! God has forgiven me. My parents have forgiven me. I thought I forgave myself. The problem is: there are all these people in the world that will cling on to your mistakes!

I don't know where I'm going with this...
Anyway, I graduated from college at the age of 21. Debt free! - thanks to scholarships and my hubby who pays rent :)
Today was graduation day. It's over now. I thought I'd finally feel accomplished and proud of myself when I walked across that stage and received my diploma- but I don't. I wonder if I'll ever be proud to be me anymore.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4 NASB)

P.S. Don't have sex before marriage! Once you are married, have all the sex you can ;)

I have my parents to thank for keeping Oliver and paying for his preschool so I could finish college.
If you are pregnant and just starting college- you don't have to stop. I had my son Oliver in July. The day after I had him, I was on my laptop in the hospital finishing a online summer class! It is hard, but it is not impossible.
All things are possible with God!
